Combat Jiu-Jitsu is a format created by 10th Planet founder Eddie Bravo, to increase realism in BJJ. It allows for open-palm strikes on the ground. First surfaced in 2017 in EBI 11, it has since grown from strength to strength. In 2018, up-kicks are added to the format to urge the standing fighter to engage the bottom fighter’s guard. There are no points, and the event is won either via submission or TKO (technical knock-out). If the event is not concluded during the standard match time, it enters EBI (Eddie Bravo Invitational) overtime rounds.
